PAGE SIX

Panel 1

Natasha and Skye sit side by side at the scene of this place, this lake: http://becominghero.ninja/comic/inside-the-comic-four-years-ago-traitor-31/

Wide, establishing shot. Both heroes now in jeans, but Natasha is now wearing a mask (which she wasn’t before).

Both hold ice cream cones.

Panel 2

Standard quarter panel, close but full-bodied side view of both heroes, as they look out over the little lake.

NATASHA: Maybe whatever it is that changes me doesn’t see me, when we’re here. Away from the fights and the mission talks. Behind the scenes.

SKYE: Hmm.

Panel 3

Close very wide, very thin panel on both of their eyes. Natasha’s are distant, focusing off onto the right side of the page. Skye’s are anxious, with eyebrows pursed, as he looks down.

SKYE: I really don’t notice, you know. You’re always the same cool person to me.

Panel 4

Natasha’s elbow in Skye’s rib.

NATASHA: That’s coming from the guy whose origin story involved hunting alligators in the sewer.

Panel 5

Skye and Natasha looking at each other, their faces very close, almost like they might kiss.

SKYE: It was a reservoir.

NATASHA: Careful. Argue with me and I’ll take you down.

SKYE: I can get back up. I always get back up. That’s my MO.

Panel 6

Wide panel whose colors bleed around the other panels, in the style of the last panel of this comic: http://becominghero.ninja/comic/inside-the-comic-four-years-ago-traitor-29/

Both Skye and Natasha look awkward and embarrassed, their moment over. Skye rubs his neck. Natasha has her fingernails in her mouth, looking away from herself.

SKYE: I mean, up, I don’t know your origin story. Just the end of it, the human-trafficking-was-actually-aliens thing. Why do you do what we do?

NATASHA: Well, uh, it was like this…

(A comic page in the world of BECOMING HERO, a novel about a comic book character who shoots his author. Great meta superhero fiction for fans of Deadpool, Animal Man, Last Action Hero, Stranger than Fiction, Superboy-Prime, She-Hulk, Cerebrus the Aardvark, AmbushBug, and other author-meeting fourth-wall-breaking "rage against the author" tropists.)
